Welcome to Studioscopic!
Studioscopic is a weekly video series focusing exclusively on contemporary artists in their own studios. Each episode highlights the artists’s ideas and vision in a succinct and understandable manner that is meant for anyone desiring insight into contemporary art and the mind and processes of contemporary artists.
Studioscopic.com and its guest curators profile artists who create high quality work in variety of mediums. By selecting talented artists from diverse backgrounds and artistic perspectives, and profiling artists with current, or upcoming shows, Studioscopic offers a current and insightful look into the most interesting and thought provoking artists. Through partnerships with Studioscopic, gallery curators and arts organizations have the opportunity to promote upcoming shows and foster interest, supporting their area’s booming arts community.
Every video on Studioscopic is designed for the web. The aim is to create beautiful, high quality videos that show accurate and detailed images of the art, and the artists’ environments, along with an emphasis on accessibility, distribution, sharing, and viewer interaction and feedback. A selection of videos are also added to the Studioscopic website where they are organized and presented in an easily searchable blog, which includes an archive, image galleries, comments, and links to artist and gallery pages.
Studioscopic videos are licensed under a Creative Commons license to encourage sharing. The HTML code can be embedded into any website or blog, including those of sponsors, artists, and cultural organizations. The videos may also be used as an offline accompaniment to an exhibition, lecture or presentation. The Kelly & Weber Fine Art gallery is currently displaying videos in their gallery on a portable DVD player to enrich their gallery exhibits.
Studioscopic hopes to become the premiere place for artist profiles by producing videos that have the same standards as the fine art galleries and museums we work with and be the only central site for videos on local artists—fulfilling a need for people interested in art and for artists interested in sharing their perspective. Overall, through the interactivity of the internet and the possibilities of dialogue, strengthen ties in the fine art community.
